Thanksgiving is around the corner and we’re so excited for the special moments, home cooked meals, and family bonding that it brings. Every year, we take stock of our products in order to curate the perfect Holiday Essentials list. It reminds us of the beauty inherent in handmade pieces, especially those that can be handed down for generations and serve as a foundation for beloved family Holiday traditions.

1. Trivets

We stand by the rustic beauty of a handmade trivet. While many people today use cork trivets or simple kitchen towels, an iron trivet is the perfect thing to pull together your Thanksgiving table setting. 2. Pie Server

Frankly, Thanksgiving would not be Thanksgiving without pie. We put a lot of time and thought into the design of this Pie Server. In fact, it’s the second iteration of our design, because we found ways to make it even more intentional and functional. 

We have both Brass and Copper options, so you can choose the one that suits your style best!

My aunt Anna Marie was so kind to share her famous family pie recipe. I highly encourage you to test out our Pie Server on my Amma’s Apple Crumb Pie (see myself pictured with the pie in question):

Amma’s Apple Crumb Pie by Anna Marie Martinus Wicks

Butter Crust Pastry Recipe – 9inch

Pie Filling

4 large tart apples (granny smith)
½ cup brown sugar
1 tsp. Cinnamon
½ cup white sugar
¾ cup flour
1/3 cup butter

Pare apples, cut into thin slices, and arrange in a 9 inch pie dish. Sprinkle with ½ white sugar mixed with cinnamon. Mix remaining brown sugar with flour and butter until moist and crumbly. Sprinkle over the apples.

Bake 450 degrees for the first 10 minutes,  then 350 degrees for about 50 minutes, until the apples are tender. Enjoy!

We’re not Thanksgiving cake eaters ourselves, but we know you folks exist. I must admit, it’s hard to resist the allure of a Pumpkin Cake (our favorite recipe by Paula Deen is a must try). We designed this cake tool to complement the existing Wicks Forge lineup and to serve up the most perfect slices.

4. Serving Spoon

There’s little this spoon can’t dish out. From mashed potatoes, casserole, green beans, and just about anything else you can think of–this beautiful and functional piece is one your holiday guests will not be able to resist complementing.

The greens are unavoidable at the holidays, which is why we’re including this summer favorite in our holiday lineup. Salad tongs have become so boring these days, so why not go against the grain and add something special to your collection.

Truly nothing beats this Herb Chopper. One of our original Wicks Forge designs, this kitchen tool will make you feel like a professional chef as you prepare your Thanksgiving feast. I am thrilled to announce that soup season is back. I respect the exceptional hosts that offer soup at Thanksgiving dinner. I’m talking about butternut squash, preferably. But whatever soup you lean towards, why not dish it out in style.
